Beach Engagement Photo Shoots

Crystal and Ben as featured in, Perfect Wedding Guide.
I have been pleasantly busy with engagement shoots. I have met some wonderful couples who have recently done photo shoots with me; I also have some wedding pictures of, Stacey and Rob Lee, a couple who decided to elope and brought me alone to document it. All three have a beach theme in common; here in Florida the beach scene is where it's at.  I'm still shaking off sand, it's in my car, in my photo bag and embedded in my Reef's flip flops.

I love the sand dunes and the boardwalk of this beach. The shade of the over hanging trees that align the boardwalk gave us a break from the bright Florida sun and made perfect conditions for some picture taking.

My first engaged couple is, Crystal Swearingen and Joe Brown, Indialantic  Fl. Their engagement shoot took place at Cherie Down Park, one of Florida's beautiful hidden beaches, nestled between, Jetty Park and Cocoa Beach.  I will have the privilege of documenting their wedding in October; also on the beach. Crystal and Joe's engagement is currently being featured in, Perfect Wedding Guide Magazine (Orlando, March issue).

Perfect Wedding Guide is one of Florida's largest circulated wedding magazine bringing Florida's best wedding merchants to your fingertips.

I met my next couple, Diana and Ben, at a bridal show I attended in January of this year. They were the winners of my, mini Valentine Day Photo Shoot that I raffled off.  Back to Cherie Down Park for more picture taking. Cherie Down Park's ambiance  is the choice for many couples who are looking for a secluded beach not too far for travelling. The nice thing about this park are the sand dunes present and it's boardwalk.  The beach itself is shallow and the waves are friendly to little people and big ones alike.

Diana and Ben
We chose a morning shoot when the angle of the sun wasn't too severe and I could manipulate the light.  And of course we came with more props; the calk board is a favorite because you can use it to post the wedding dates which a favorite of many couples.

Diana and Ben are planning a wedding for next February 2014.
I always enjoy myself when working, this shoot was only forty five minutes long and yet it seemed like only five minutes to me. Congratulations to the two newly engaged couples.

How many elopements brings a photographer with them?  Well that is exactly what Stacey and Rob Lee did.
Stacey called me up about one month before the wedding date. They were getting married on the very day I had booked Diana and Ben's engagement shoot! But as luck had it, they were planning an afternoon wedding on the beach; not the best time for picture taking with the sun hovering overhead, but just enough time for me to finish one beach shoot and run up the coast to photograph the wedding, at Playalinda.

Stacey was one hour late for her wedding. I told her she was in good company; I was thirty minutes late for mine and my daughter was forty five minutes late for hers. We all had a good laugh and relaxed the tension.

2013 A Year In The Making

Wow, it's been so long since my last update and so much has happened.
Simply Dorine Photography is growing and becoming well known in Titusville and beyond.  My latest adventure is entering the, 2013 WPPI 16x20 Photo and Album Competition. Now why would I put an image up for critiquing, I'm not sure myself. The level of skill photographers bring to this competition is absolutely staggering. Their work is impeccable, and as I've been told by one affiliate from the competition, "'This is, best of the best', so bring your best stuff," he encouraged me.

Maternity Shoot with Melissa Kincaid
To get caught up with my blog let me tell you some of the events that have transpired. I've had engagements shoots, weddings, newborn and maternity shoots; so I'll share a few images of each with you.

Melissa & Walter Kincaid
Baby Damon's Newborn Shoot

Earlier this month (January 6th), Perfect Wedding Guide had their first annual Bridal Show in Melbourne, FL. that was very successful for us. We met a lot of amazing future brides. I gave away a Glamour Photo Session in PWG's raffle. And I ran my own raffle simultaneously during the bridal show for a, "Mini Valentine's Day Photo Shoot". And the winning couple is, Dianna Humphries & Ben Thornton of Melbourne, Fl. We have  a planned photo shoot set for February 2nd (Groundhog Day) on the beach at either, Jetty Park or Cherie Downs, both lovely beaches with plenty of sand dunes and ambiance.
Looking back to October, I did the fastest maternity shoot for, Melissa Kincard, who wasn't feeling her best that day. The pictures turned out great, she sported the biggest smile for not feeling well, and I was fast enough to take a few extra photos for dramatic purpose only. We were lucky to do the shoot when we did for one week later little Damon was born. Plans were already made for the newborn shoot so in November one week after he was born we did his pictures with a Christmas theme.
Joseph Nardone & Audrey Neal
I had a wedding also planned in November for, Joseph Nardone and Audrey Neal, to tie the knot; but it was a spur of the moment decision to take their engagement pictures. So here we go again, one week before the wedding we're taking pictures in historic downtown Titusville in the evening after work hours. It turned cold and windy and we lost our light, but the pictures came out great anyway. Titusville is a quaint place for photo sessions because of it's dated buildings and nestled courtyards that just beckon for visitors. And with the Christmas season upon us it was decked out with colorful bright lights. Mostly I use the buildings as a backdrop, it kept everything looking 'old world' with it's muted colors.
Right after the Nardone's wedding, I had another booked for, Jose De Hoyas and Angel Urrutia. It was a lovely wedding that was fast pace and loads of fun. I sent pictures of Jose and Angel's engagement to, Perfect Wedding Guide Magazine (Orlando) for publication. What a delight to have my work seen in a magazine with a broad circulation as theirs in the wedding world (you can view my image on page 41); plus I'm still submitting  my work to others.
Recently I received a call from Susan Coggins and David James, together they host, The Wedding Zone, a radio program for and about the wedding industry on WMEL 1300am. We did a recorded interview where I had the opportunity to introduce myself and speak about my style and my wedding photography business. My interview will be aired on, Saturday, January 26th at 9:30am.  Susan is very savvy in the wedding planning industry being the owner of, Wedding Belles, Inc; a bride's one stop venue for a stress free wedding day; and David James, is a very prominent person in the organization and planning of Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Shows throughout the east coast of Florida.
Well I sufficiently brought, Picture This, blog up to date.  Last year was a series of small steps for my business, Simply Dorine Photography, but 2013 is already showing leaps and bounds. Enjoy the images.
